Missing Norwegian teenage girls found in southern Turkey

  • Two Norwegian girls who were missing for four days were found on Wednesday morning in the southern province of Mersin, the Doğan news agency has reported.
  • Missing girsl TurkeyMia Emilie Haugen and İda Marie Norland, both aged 15, went missing four days ago in the southern district of Alanya, and their families  launched a search to find the girls by posting on social media.

    According to Doğan, the two went a cafe on Mersin’s Adnan Menders Boulevard near the seaside at around 5 a.m. One of the waiters called police after observing the girls acting in a hesitant and suspicious manner. The police team, after arriving at the cafe, delivered them to Mersin Police Department’s Children Unit after finding out that a missing persons report had been filed for the girls.

    It was determined that the girls traveled to Mersin via an intercity bus. Doğan reported that Haugen and Norland, who were both looking tired, were taken to Mersin State Hospital for a health screening and they will give their testimony to police with the help of translator. The girls are expected to be delivered to their family after the interrogation.

She later met up with other Norwegian girl, who was on holiday in a resort in the same area, and neither of them was heard from until they were found on Wednesday. The families of the missing girls filed a missing person’s report with the police and shared photos of the girls with a missing notice on social media.
