A Metro Vancouver mother has been arrested and faces charges after an alleged abduction on Friday evening.

Police had issued an Amber Alert warning that two children — eight-year-old Mateo Pastor Ruiz and nine-year-old Sofia Pastor Ruiz — were possibly travelling with 36-year-old April Pastor-Ruiz. RCMP had received a report just before 2 p.m. of a parental abduction from Birchland Elementary School in Port Coquitlam.

The family was located in Sicamous at a gas station seven hours later, and the mother was arrested, according to Mounties. Investigators say charges are pending and the children have been reunited with their family.
